Important announcement: Change in translated series’

So to make a long story short: My trial day at the potential workplace went well and thus I am starting from tomorrow onwards as full-time employee in sales.

Now what does that mean for my translations? I had considered the possibility of this happening beforehand already and thus my decision is actually set in stone. Basically I had two options, either decrease the release pace or drop one series to free up time. I opted for latter.

Thus, as of today, Yomigaeri no Maou is abandoned for the time being unless I find myself with plenty time again (in other words unemployed, which I’d like to avoid). Any translator who wishes to take up this series, is free to do so and can continue from where I left off.

Now, some will ask why it is Yomigaeri no Maou and not some other series. There are a few reasons, which I shall list here:

  • The pace of the story is too slow for my liking. Just to give you a rough idea: The Fighting Tournament starts at chapter 36 and continues for over 20 chapters. In other words, it would take further 8 weeks to reach the Tournament arc filled with trivial boring chapters about useless chit-chat. I don’t doubt that Yomigaeri no Maou is an interesting story, but it needs a dedicated translator who can release chapters every 1,2,3 days to actually really get on with the story. Considering that Yomigaeri no Maou only released  1 Light Novel volume even though it already has 235+ web chapters, speaks for me not being the only one sharing this opinion about the story.
  • The writing style of the author is uselessly complicated and annoying. Translating that series really takes more effort than another series of the same length just because the author loves to construct stupidly long and complicated sentence structures. Not even mentioning the fact, that his writing style appears rather plain to me as in richness of vocabulary and expressions which also means that I am forced to beef up the content myself to not make it an enjoyable read. (Of course this might also be due to the lack of my skill as translator though).
  • The MC is too plain. Well he is an ex-Maou but gets pushed around by his surroundings like a plush toy. Not even sure what I should say about such a MC except that he has no real character in my opinion and if he has, it is a softie character which I dislike as MCs.

There are a few other points I am unhappy about with this series’ but unlike my other series’ these are they key points why my choice fell onto Yomigaeri no Maou.

Now as for the other series: Hachinan tte, sore wa nai deshou! will stay on the Sunday slot (the only time I have to translate such frigging long chapters is over the weekend), Nidoume no Jinsei wo Isekai de will move up to Thursday/Friday (depending on my time after work in the week) and Kuro no Shoukanshi will move to Tuesday.

As my days at work are fairly long, I have only little time after work to translate. Today I came back home late and have been translating Hachinan tte, sore wa nai deshou! Chapter 30 for 4 hours straight (still not done with it though *sobs*). Thus there might be some adjustments to the schedule depending on how my daily routine pans out in the end.

Still, don’t be worried. I don’t plan on dropping the other 3 series as I like them too much to leave them sink in the quagmire of oblivion!

Well, I hope the readers of Yomigaeri no Maou can understand my decision, even if it may be hard for them to accept it.

As for Hachinan tte, sore wa nai deshou! Chapter 30, I will try to finish the last 20% tomorrow. Sorry for that delay but nothing I can do about it. My brain actually hurts from all the translation for that chapter! xD

That’s all of my ramblings,

Shasu

Hachinan tte, sore wa nai deshou!: Delay notice

Heyas folks,

unfortunately I have to tell you guys that chapter 30 of Hachinan tte, sore wa nai deshou! will be delayed until tomorrow. The reason is simply the length of the chapter which exceeds the previous chapter by 1,5 times. I have already spent several hours and will in a few resume spending more hours on translating it but as I got tomorrow a trial day at a potential new workplace I can’t go sleep too late. Similarly, because I will be back late tomorrow, I won’t promise you a release at dot 8 pm GMT either. Most likely it will be 2-3 hours later.

Naturally Kuro no Shoukanshi Chapter 12 will be moved up to Tuesday as I won’t have time for that one tomorrow at all.

Well, just wanted to inform you guys ahead of time so you don’t spend hours on clicking F5. 😉

Greetings,

Shasu

Nidoume no Jinsei wo Isekai de – Chapter 11: It seems to be an adventurer’s guild

Heyas everyone,

sorry for the slight delay. As I didn’t manage to finish translating the next chapter of Nidoume no Jinsei wo Isekai de yesterday, our poor new editor BakaGrappler was forced to put up with my mistake riddled text today.

Please welcome BakaGrappler warmly as editor for this series!

and a few words from the person himself:

“Hello, all. I’m the new Editor for Nidoume, which is more than a little fulfilling for me since that web novel is the reason I found Infinite Novel Translations in the first place.  So, rest assured that I’ll be putting my efforts into making the releases as high a quality as possible, despite my being a Baka.  Enjoy yourself, and let me know if / when I completely drop the ball.”

Well, then enjoy the read!                                                                                                                                                       ——–> Continue here!

As for the next chapter of Yomigaeri no Maou: I have a few RL errands to run tomorrow but will try to make it in time for the Friday release. *prays it works out* Otherwise I will leave a note in the Release Schedule on the side bar.

Greetings,

Shasu

Hachinan tte, sore wa nai deshou! – Chapter 29: Reunion with Erich-nii-san

Sorry for the slight delay, folks.

Part of the reason stems from the previous announcement and another part from the fact that it was the longest chapter I translated up until today. At somepoint I was doubting whether it will ever end at all. 😉

Well, have fun reading Chapter 29 of Hachinan tte, sore wa nai deshou!

Chapter 7 of Kuro no Shoukanshi will be released later today. Chapter 11 of Nidoume no Jinsei wo Isekai de will be released on Thursday the 23rd July at 8 PM GMT as I got a job interview tomorrow and thus won’t have much time to translate.

If there are any further delays, I will keep you guys informed but I do hope I can get back on track by Friday. 🙂

Greetings,

Shasu

Announcement and Recruitment

Good evening,

First off a little announcement from my side:

My company decided to downsize the number of people they employ and as such someone like me, with a temporary contract, naturally got cut quite fast. While I’d love to live the life of a NEET and just live from translating, that won’t be possible, unfortunately (considering the current donations, it amounts to an hourly wage of approx. 2 cents, so yea, not happening).

Thus I am looking for a new job and while most of you probably don’t care about that part, it will still affect the schedule once I find one. Next weeks schedule should be fine as is but after that it might change. Just take this as heads up, so you people are not surprised if the releases slow down or a series gets cut. I will keep you up to date. And no, I don’t plan on stopping to translate.

Now as for the recruitment:

I am looking for editor(s): I don’t judge my English language skills as that horrific (of course I might be wrong though), so the stuff I translate doesn’t need a complete overhaul to make it readable. Thus I am rather looking for someone with a rich language who can make the entire story flow more diverse and fluent without losing the intention of the author.

Required would be:

  • Native language skills
  • Age-wise: 20+
  • Skype available (highly recommended)
  • Availability – must not be online every day but often enough to be reachable on short term
  • Reliability – I am working on a schedule and do try to keep it, so not turning up for a week without prior notice and such, is a no go.
  • Previous experience as editor is not necessary (would be nice of course).

If you feel up to the challenge, please send me a mail to [email protected]. Ideally with a little introduction and the information on which series you want to work (If you are only interested in one series, please still state one alternative series you would be willing to work on). Available series are only those 4 I am translating, obviously. Kuro no Shoukanshi has lower priority as it is a novel written rather simply.

Of course translators and TLCs are always welcome, but who am I kidding anyway. xD

Regards,

Shasu-tan

Nidoume no Jinsei wo Isekai de – Chapter 10: It seems we have finally arrived at a human habitat

Heyas everyone,

today you get another shot of Nidoume no Jinsei wo Isekai de! Enjoy reading Chapter 10!

Now on to another note: Due to RL issues the release of Yomigaeri no Maou will be very likely pushed back by one day. Since it got quite hectic over here, I cannot guarantee the Friday release, Saturday shouldn’t be a big problem though. This shouldn’t affect Hachinan tte, sore wa nai deshou! for Sunday, I hope, otherwise I will post a notice ahead of time.

Greetings,

Shasu

Hachinan tte, sore wa nai deshou! – Chapter 28: Associate Baron Baumeister

Heyas folks,

before I will post the chapter link there is a request pending from some of you to me I’d like to address.

In the last few days some people have asked me (be it via comments or mail) to edit the older chapters of Hachinan tte, sore wa nai deshou!

Since I don’t feel like answering every time the same to each and every of you, I will use this opportunity to do it here.

No, I won’t edit or change the previous chapters (this includes chapter 1 – 25 + interludes 1 -5 ).

Why not? Because …

  • I do not want to change someone else’s work without their permission. I originally only reposted the chapters here, because it is easier for reading navigation and because the blogs of the respective translators basically are inactive. Treat it as service for the readers.
  • It takes time. I won’t put my name under something I haven’t at least roughly TLCed and properly edited. And that’s not a job of a few minutes. If I were to really do this, there would be no new chapters of Hachinan for a while as I won’t drag the issues of one series into the release schedule of other series’.
  • Finally, the chapters are readable. Some people are just too spoiled. Personally I have read translations that are far worse close to below border-line elementary school English (and that from a prominent translation group to top it off -.-). Since the chapters are understandable, all the grammar whiners should bark up to another tree in my humble opinion.

I do not ask you to accept these reasons with joy, I only ask you to understand and live with them.

Oh, and before anyone else asks. The links to new chapters not working before their release time is intended. These are only preparation for the release itself. The schedule is written on the right side of your screen. Be as kind to read it before asking. 😉

Well, that’s all from me on this topic. (Guess translating the Sunday web novel always drives me to write longer blog posts! xD)

And here is your chapter, have fun reading it !

Greetings,

Shasu-pyon

P.S: I removed the chat because it didn’t seem to work, or I was bugged, or the chat was bugged or both of us were or because no one wanted to use it anyway … well one of those reasons or all of them. ^^

Hachinan tte, sore wa nai deshou! – Chapter 27: Audience with His Majesty

Heyas folks,

today I have released the new Chapter of Hachinan tte, sore wa nai deshou! but before giving the link, I’d like to announce two important things:

First off, originally the “next chapter” would have been Interlude 6. Personally as a reader I don’t really care about interludes/intermissions as they most of the times give only side stories of unimportant characters or occurrences.  Of course, that doesn’t mean that I won’t translate them though. I will handle them as side projects and try to release them within 5 chapters after emergence. This applies to all series I am translating, too.

Second, the translator who has translated chapter 25 of Hachinan tte sore wa nai deshou! unfortunately forgot a bit of text at the end of the chapter. I have translated and added the missing part to the chapter. You should read it here.

Well that was all from me, enjoy Chapter 27 – Audience with His Majesty!

Kuro no Shoukan Samurai – Chapter 5 will be released on Monday, the 6th July at 8 PM GMT.

Greetings,

Shasu

P.S.: I changed the style a bit in order to move the menu bar below the banner and make it easier on the eyes as a whole.

I hope you like this one. If not, feel free to comment and I will revert it.

Nidoume no Jinsei wo Isekai de – Chapter 8: It seems to be the cleanup after battle

After an exciting climax battle chapter, this time around we get a more relaxed chapter from Shion’s POV. Still the chapter is loaded with plenty information about the other world making it a worthwhile read for sure.

Smart move of the author. *thumbs up*

Enjoy reading chapter 8 here!

Yomigaeri no Maou Chapter 25 might be released on Thursday, the 2nd July at 8 PM GMT.

“Might”, because the chapter is slightly longer than the last and knowing the authors way of constructing sentences it could get a major hassle again. xD

At worst it will be released on Friday for sure though, which would be right on schedule anyway though. 😉
